The Mosquito Coast

"****One of the most
important films of the year."

- Rex Reed, At The Movies

Allie Fox is fed up. Angered by an America that "buys junk, sells junk, eats junk," and a world whose nuclear doomsday clock is always two minutes away from midnight, the brillant inventor (nine patents, six pending) taks a bold step. With a mocking "Goodbye, America! Have a nice day!" and with a vehement, and blind, faith in his own abilities -- Fox leads his trusting wife and four children into the remote Central American jungles of The Mosquito Coast to carve out a new society.

Actor Harrison Ford and director Peter Weir, last teamed for the Academy Award winning thriller Witness, reunite for The Mosquito Coast, an adventure tale of utopian vision gone mad. Starring as Fox, Ford (the immensely popular hero of Star Wars and Indiana Jones sagas) explores the dark side of heroism -- and the result is spellbinding as ever! Ford is "an irresistible force on the screen," says the Los Angeles Times. "His power -- even with his back to the camera, even when we can't read his face -- is terrifying."

Follow the glorious, obsessive quest of Allie Fox, a man whose reach terrifyingly exceeds his grasp. The memory of his doomed dream will stay with you for days.
